Reimagining Elderhood
Due to the ongoing supply and demand issues of both living and working spaces, the cultural community continuously navigate precarious and uncertain relationships with urban environments throughout their careers. Throughout this process the lived and learnt experience of the group was valued as the position from which to re-imagine and propose regenerative urban landscapes for aging.
The co-design and participatory process considered the potential of Cork City centre for future residents and businesses alike. A walking route was defined, a route constructed of memories and experiences of the city that emerged through conversation. The project culminated in a two day conversation on Elderhood hosted at Plugd Records and a national exhibition and seminar at Project Arts Centre, Dublin. The public events included nightly screenings of the Reimagining Elderhood film paired with live music performances from participating musicians. An interactive exhibition was displayed including visuals by Ailbhe Cunningham and collaborative commissioned illustrations by Annie Mar.
